Damascus Steel 1 : Dry Welding the Pattern Welded Billet

No experience nec. In this class, the student will learn "Dry Forge Welding" as developed by Steve Rollert and Owen Wood. The differences in Dry and Fluxed welds as well as Hydrocarbon welding will be discussed with examples of each on hand for display. The steels most commonly used will be discussed as well as the pros and cons of each. Three heat-treating techniques will be discussed and at least one demonstrated. The student will see Steve assemble and forge weld a billet "Dry", then the student will make and weld "Dry" a billet to be taken home. If time permits, the student can forge to shape a blade or hardware out of the steel they make. The billets we will be making will be 1.5 inches wide by 4 inches long by 20 layers thick for the first weld of the billets. Price also includes one D handle 100# magnet, and grinding belts used for cleaning the billet pieces between welds. You can also cancel and use the full deposit towards any other class for up to 1 year.
Cancellation Policy
You can cancel a class at least a week in advance and use the full deposit towards any other class for up to 1 year. Complete cancelation results in $50 fee No-shows and last-minute cancelations (6 days before or less) forfeit the entire deposit. We reserve the right to cancel classes with low enrollment (less than 3). The warning will be given a week in advance.
